March 26, 2015; Say the name Mercury, and it instantly conjures up images of fun, power, reliability, and in its Verado four-stroke outboard motors, whisper quiet confidence.

Ever since founder and engineer Carl Kiekhaefer purchased a small outboard company in 1939 and proceeded to wow the world with its power plants, Mercury has been the leader in outboard engineering, design and sales, first across the country, and then the world.

Since AIM’s inception, Mercury, based in Fond Du Lac, Wis., has been a major sponsor of its fishing tournaments, including the AIM Weekend Walleye Series, which this season includes three qualifying regional tournament series, each with four events. The first will be April 19 on Michigan’s Detroit River, April 26 in Wisconsin’s Wolf River, and May 17 in Minnesota waters of the Mississippi River.

"We at Mercury Marine are proud of our relationship with the AIM Weekend Walleye Series and commend the efforts of the sustainable Catch-Record-Releaseä concept,” said Michelle Kilburn, competitive angling manager for Mercury Marine/Motor Guide. “We look forward to the 2015 season and are excited to offer a great lineup of engines to power many of the competitors. Our Mercury Opti Max Pro XS and Mercury Pro Four Stroke outboard line are a perfect fit for AIM’s events."

You can bet that with a lineup of outboards from 2.5 to its new 350-horsepower Verado, and stern drives to fit every inboard, you’ll be seeing lots of Mercs on the boats starting each event, and on the winner’s podium.
