            “I got into the walleye fishing market in the late 1980’s.  Our mini planer board came out about the time the Professional Walleye Tour (PWT) was formed,” DeShano, who is affectionately known as “The chairman of the board’s” said.

 

“The boards made a big hit on Lake Erie at Port Clinton, Ohio in 1993, the first year I made them available to the public,” DeShano said.

 

“Since then, anglers have been telling me what they like, as they all have different ideas,” he said. The product has evolved over the years in to the #1 planer board used by walleye fisherman today!

 

When his family moved north to Port Austin from Detroit, Michigan, DeShano got involved with the local steelhead chapter. “I started fishing some tournaments then entered walleye tournaments and won some”.

 

            “I liked the technology end of fishing and was always trying to learn better ways to catch fish,” he said.
