AIM Weekend Walleye Series Teams With Garmin To Sponsor 2018 Season, As Garmin Teams With Navionics
Re-signing two major sponsors for a tournament series like the AIM Weekend Walleye Series is no small feat, and Garmin’s®—already an AIM sponsor—purchase in 2017 of Navionics®—another AIM sponsor, is a double bonus, as both are returning sponsors for the 2018 season.
“What a great pair of fishing tools for AIM to be associated with,” said Denny Fox, AWWS National Tournament Director. “Not only are we sponsored by the best GPS chips on the water in Navionics, but the most innovative electronics out there in Garmin, including its exclusive Panoptix™ all-seeing sonar.
“Navionics believes in AIM’s Catch-Record-Release™ format so much, one of its international online seminars this year was an introduction to AIM by a tournament angler who’ve fished it. It’s also continuing to sponsor the Big Fish Thursday event, giving a GPS chip to the team posting each tourney’s biggest single fish in each of our three divisions, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota,” he said.
“And, Garmin continues its support with its ‘Garmin Grand’ giveaway. If the winning team at any AWWS tournament uses Garmin electronics permanently mounted in their boat, they’ll earn an extra $1,000 from Garmin,” Fox said.
Panoptix is amazing and could be the next step in future of fishing electronics. It offers 3-D imaging all around your boat in real time whether cruising or fishing.
Navionics regional maps give you all you need to know about how and where to fish just about any body of water, including those “inside turn” contours that walleye anglers know are just the spots that their favorite fish like to fish themselves when ambushing prey.
The Great Lakes regional map, for example, lists hundreds of lakes including the Great Lakes and bays in six states, down to the most minute detail. In addition, Navionics smart phone apps will give you an easy-to-use platform for lake knowledge and an extra safety margin to make sure you both find the waypoints your friends have told you about, and make it safely to shore in any condition, be it fog, darkness, or impending bad weather.
“The marriage of Garmin and Navionics will herald nothing but great outcomes for our sport, for AIM’s future, and for finding our favorite fish,” Fox said.
