Mercury Marine Returns as AIM Weekend Walleye Series Sponsor For The 2018 Season

Wisconsin-based Mercury Marine is returning as a sponsor for the 2018 AIM Weekend Walleye Series, Anglers Insight Marketing LLC (AIM) announced.

“Since AIM came on the scene, Mercury has been a partner in our drive to be the best walleye tournament in the country,” said Denny Fox, AWWS National Tournament Director. “When you think fun on the water, you think Mercury and its proven corral of motors, ”said Fox. “AIM is based in Wisconsin, so it’s only natural to have Mercury on board to help tell the story of AIM, and especially what makes us unique among major tournaments, our Catch-Record-Release™ format.”

Only weeks ago, Mercury announced a new “Go With 5” five-year extended warranty program for 2.5 ‐ 350hp Four Stroke & 75hp – 250hp OptiMax (including ProXS) outboards. Units must be manufactured in the current calendar year or four immediately preceding calendar years.

Topping news in its storied engine lineup is its all-new 3.4L V6 family of four-strokes. “These engines are going to change the mid-range market,” said John Buelow, Mercury Marine vice president of global category management, when he accepted a 2018 Innovation Award for the motors from the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

The lineup features 175, 225 and 250hp models, as well as a 200hp SeaPro commercial motor, all in a striking “stealth” style angular design from cowl to skeg.

Additionally, the 3.4L V-6 outboards offer the option of mechanical or digital controls, hydraulic or power steering, and black or white cowls on Four Stroke-branded products, as well as a variety of accent panel colors.

The 200hp model weighs only 475 pounds, the lightest in its class by 10 pounds, and offering 20 percent more torque than its competitors at cruise speeds. The new 3.4L also boasts unmatched fuel efficiency, up to 15 percent more than the competition. Other innovations include a top-cowl service hatch that allows for easy oil checks, eliminating the need to take the entire cowl off. Also, its new idle charge battery management features best-in-class net charging capacity of 20 amps at 650 rpm, to run those electronics all day.

The third innovation is Mercury’s Adaptive Speed Control, which maintains a constant RPM regardless of load or conditions, improving your boating experience.

Mercury’s four-strokes are already known for a quiet, vibration-free ride. The new 3.4L takes that rep a notch higher, with a multi-chamber intake, high-frequency noise-reducing injection covers, and cowl features that help prevent noise from reaching the operator.

Mercury’s new F150 ProXS features such improvements as extra torque, higher full-throttle RPM, superior charging output, and at 456 pounds, is 20 pounds less than the nearest competitive offering.

Also new are 15 and 20hp four-strokes, along with a new multi-function tiller handle, the world’s first to offer ambidextrous operation.

Last but not least is Mercury’s return to Lake X in Florida, its historic test waters where founder E. Carl Kiekhaefer created a secluded facility to develop what has become a name synonymous with quality, endurance and on the water fun.

“AIM is looking forward to many years of partnership with Mercury to not only get the word out about Catch-Record-Release walleye fishing, and the great products that come out of Fond du Lac,” Fox said.
