For $100K AWWS National Championship Package

A never-before prize rundown for the AIM Weekend Walleye Series National Championship Shootout will boost the first-place worth to more than $100,000 and make the runners-up go home smiling too as AIM and its sponsors step up to create the richest awards rundown in series history.

“We told you that 2023 would be a remarkable year for AIM, and what will be waiting for teams on the Rock River at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin is only one example,” said Denny Fox, AIM national tournament director. “This package will be more than doubled from previous championships, and we’re also adding more spice to the pot for second through fifth place finishers too when we visit there in June. Both AIM and our sponsors decided that we would upgrade everything and make that first-place prize into a showcase boat that will be ready to fish from day one.”

As previously announced, the winning Shootout team will be going home with a huge boat upgrade from Warrior. The V193, is nearly a foot longer than the previous prize. Standard equipment aboard includes a walk-through tinted windshield, four chairs, an aerated baitwell and two livewells, a bow cooler, a 48-gallon fuel tank and a lot more goodies, all strapped down to a tandem axle trailer.

“That boat needed a bigger motor, so we went to Yamaha, and they also delivered: A new super-sexy V 6 V MAX SHO 200-horsepower four stroke,” Fox continued.

“Now, we also know how much everyone likes Garmin, so we’re putting a new Garmin Force trolling motor on the bow, and next to it will be one of two Garmin EchomapÔ 93SV sonar units aboard, with the other at the captain’s console.

And, waiting inside that ginormous Warrior rod locker will be 8 of Rosemore Outdoor Gear rods, ready for both anglers jigging and rigging. Rod shelves will hold up to 12-footers.

That’s for first. Want more, you say? Coming right up.

“This year, the second-place team will be toting home not one, but a pair of Mercury kicker four strokes easily worth $7,000. And for third through fifth place? From Power-Pole, they get a Power-Pole or the Power-Pole Charge onboard power management system,” Fox said. All this and free entry for the 30 qualifying boats in this year’s event (next year it’s 40 including from the new Rivers Division) makes the Shootout even more enticing to shoot for in 2024.

Next, as AIM Opening Day gets closer, a look at what competing at Fort Atkinson means to some team members who qualified for this year’s Shootout, what it took to get there, and how they’re preparing to fish a system they won’t be on until a few days prior to launch. To learn more, go to the AIM website, aimfishing.com, for details on how you can register to get in on AIM’s four divisions. Watch for the latest at AIM’s Facebook site.
