AIM Looks Forward To A Better Year in 2021,

Announcing The First Of A ‘Flurry’ Of Winter News

Let’s see. Oil’s changed in the motors. Check. Boat’s put away. Check. Smart charger’s doing its charging thing. Check. Time to get out the ice fishing sled and check the gear. Check. AIM Weekend Walleye Series already planning for 2021? Double check.

While many anglers have been getting ready for winter ice, the soft water season isn’t quite done yet at AIM. Here are the first previews of coming attractions lined up for you to ponder while you’re staring into column of ice.

“AIM’s season may have ended early last September, but we’ve been busy the last two months with planning already for a busier-than-ever 2021 season,” said Denny Fox, AIM national tournament director. “We’ve already announced our tentative dates and locations on our Facebook page, but we’ve got a lot more to tell you about now, and in the coming weeks and months. First, let’s get to the basics.”

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, AIM tried a bold experiment this year that no tournament series had successfully done before:  Move all angler registration and team meetings online.

“It was an unbelievable success. We did a straw poll of teams after the season ended, and the vast majority said they couldn’t be happier with this format. Teams could attend our mandatory meetings online, while they finished rigging rods and boats, in their motel rooms, wherever they wished, saving them time and travel, and we could highlight some of our sponsors during the meetings as well. We will continue the format this year. All our pre-tournament meetings will again be virtual,” Fox announced.

Changes brought by COVD-19 also resulted in virtual awards ceremonies for most 2020 events. For 2021, Fox said, whether to hold live or online events will be decided on a “case-by-case” basis.

“The fantastic news about vaccines we all know about brings with it hope that we can eventually get back to normal, but we also realize that Covid will be with us for some time yet, so for the sake of our teams, AIM staff, and sponsors, we must be smart, careful and mindful of what we’re all dealing with,” Fox continued. “That could change during the season, but it’s the safety of our teams that is always paramount in all of AIM’s decisions.”

AIM’s “post-event online interview show,” The RAP, was so successfully received by Fan Nation and so well liked by teams that it has earned a second season for 2021. For those unfamiliar, The RAP appears at AIM’s Facebook page and You-Tube Page on the Wednesday following each event. Denny Fox and Geremy Olson chat with the highest-placing teams at each event.

“This is a great way for you, Fan Nation, to connect with our teams to find out how they got to the stage, including what they used to do it, how and where,” he said.

What else is on the horizon? Lots more announcements that will be nearly weekly leading up to January 2021. That’s including the Big One: the location of the 2021 AIM National Championship Shootout being held June 4th and 5th, where that 1898DC Warrior powered by that super-smooth, super-torquey 150 Yamaha four-stroke, with industry leading Garmin electronics aboard, all worth more than $55,000, will be trailed home by one lucky team.

Call’em an early Christmas present, Fox said. Stay tuned! Keep an eye on AIM’s Facebook page for those updates, as well as details on all AIM tournaments and when and how you can sign up. It will all be at the AIM website soon.
