Moonshine Lures Is Hooked On 2018 AIM Weekend
Walleye Series, Becomes Newest Sponsor
Unless you’re a die-hard chugging hand-liner using pencil plugs, we all need a variety of quality lures to catch walleye, right?
So, what could be more logical than to have a maker of one of the AIM Weekend Walleye Circuit’s most popular jig/glide baits, join as a sponsor of the 2018 AWWS, and in turn, support AIM’s revolutionary approach to competition that preserves the resource, Catch-Record-Release?™
We, and they, thought so too. AIM’s growing list of new sponsors includes the makers of gotta’ have’ em Moonshine Lures that have become so popular among jigging, glide casting and trolling walleye anglers. Moonshine is also adding a sweetener this season for the team using its product to either win, or place, in an AIM tourney. Read on for info.
“Seeing how many sponsors continue to sign on as supporters of C-R-R this season, which believe it or not, begins in Wisconsin in less than a week, is a testament to what we’re doing,” said Denny Fox, AWWS National Tournament Director. “The way we do it is the way all fishing tournaments should. This is what our sponsors and all our anglers firmly believe, or they wouldn’t be with us.”
“Our tournaments are geared so an everyday weekend angler and a fishing buddy can enter. Our fees are low, our payouts are high, and our qualifiers are always on a weekend. That’s what we’re all about,” Fox said.
This is Moonshine Lures owner Tom Gudwer’s first season sponsoring the AWWS. His lure-making business is based in tiny Perkins, near Gladstone, in Michigan’s western Upper Peninsula.
One cruise through Moonshine’s website and its pro staff that includes some of the sport’s greats, and its instructional videos on how to use its products, will tell you that it’s a lure maker to be reckoned with. Especially its popular Shiver Minnow, such a fish-crusher, there’s even a retrieving technique named after it. It’s a cross between a jig, and a jigging spoon.
Shiver Minnow this year sports a new holographic model. The Shiver can be used in multiple presentations, including vertical jigging, and working it in a cast-hop-glide-retrieve-drop cadence on structure, and standard jigging if you’re ice fishing. Moonshine also produces spoons, including unique walleye trolling spoons, the new RV walleye spoon, plugs and flies.
Now, here’s that kicker we promised: Teams have the ability to win a $500 contingency in product credit from Moonshine Lures with a victory in any AIM Weekend Walleye Series Event while using a Moonshine Lures product.
The team must publicly acknowledge the style of Moonshine Lure used with a brief overview of their day, to be recorded in post-tournament AIM press releases. If first place isn’t using applicable baits, Moonshine Lures will also offer $100 in product credit for the top placing team using their products during each event. The same stipulations will be required for this opportunity as well.
To join AIM’s sponsor list, and for registration information and AIM’s Weekend Walleye Series events, contact National Tournament Director Denny Fox at AIMfishing.com, or through AIM’s Facebook page. Slots still remain for Minnesota and North Dakota division events. Both Leech Lake, MN events and mille lacs event in June are full. Do not wait.
